Hair loss in men: causes and natural solutions
Around one man in two has visible hair loss by the age of 50. It can start early, sometimes from the age of 20, and usually progresses slowly: a receding hairline, thinning on the crown.
The main causes
- Genetics and hormones: in predisposed men, DHT, a by-product of testosterone, gradually shortens the follicle cycle (androgenetic alopecia).
- Stress: a shock or an intense period can cause diffuse hair loss a few months later.
- Diet and lifestyle: deficiencies, lack of sleep, smoking.
What can help
- Act early: the sooner you take care of it, the better you preserve existing density.
- A diet rich in protein, zinc and vitamins.
- A course designed for men’s hair: biotin, zinc and selenium contribute to the maintenance of normal hair, together with plant extracts such as saw palmetto and pumpkin seed.
- Consistency: at least three months of use before judging the result.
When to see a doctor
Rapid hair loss, loss in patches or loss with itching should be checked by a doctor or a dermatologist.
